Children physiotherapy
With children physiotherapy we focus on children from birth. The child's psychomotor development at an early age has its characteristics, developmental milestones and is especially important because it forms the basis for all movement habits and stereotypes in the later stages of life. It is a relatively complex process, strongly influenced by children's personalities and involves both gross and fine motor skills, sensory development, orofacial development, but also social and mental skills. We deal with the quality of psychomotor development, correct motor habits and possible deviations in development. For children in preschool and school age, movement stereotypes deepen and strengthen, and at the same time at this age we sometimes deal with the consequences of muscle imbalance. Sufficient adequate physical activity is important for the proper development of physical coordination. Physiotherapy helps prevent future musculoskeletal disorders.
Frequently addressed issues:
- Postural defects (poor posture)
- Headaches and back pain
- Scoliosis
- Flat feet
- Coordination disorders
- Sensory processing (sensory integration) disorders
- Cerebral palsy, hypotonic syndrome
- Post‑traumatic and post‑operative conditions
- Psychomotor development
- Congenital defects
- Head preference (positional preference)
- Birth trauma
Most frequently used methods:
- Vojta method – stimulation of specific points and support zones on the child’s body that promotes coordinated muscle activity for optimal motor development. This method simply helps babies find correct movement patterns, start using them and gradually integrate them as a natural part of their movements. It makes use of the innate ability of the human body to respond to certain stimuli.
- Basal Postural Programs (BPP)
- Bobath concept – an individualised therapy approach that supports the child’s motor development and functional abilities. The child uses their own potential for movement, and the therapy is adapted according to the child’s needs and progress.
Why bring children to physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy for infants and children plays a crucial role in supporting healthy psychomotor development. Working with babies is very specific – it requires a gentle, sensitive and at the same time highly professional approach. It is not only about solving existing difficulties, but increasingly also about prevention, which helps the child develop their movement potential in line with individual developmental milestones. Our goal is to provide physiotherapy in a way that allows every further step forward in the child’s development. If we manage to correct a “fault” early, we can prevent the spread of an incorrect movement pattern into more complex positions and thus reduce the risk of health problems later in childhood and adulthood.
Babies – our physiotherapy focuses both on monitoring proper development and on early detection of any deviations. It is suitable for you if:
-
You want to be sure your baby is developing well.
-
You notice asymmetry, your baby always prefers the same head/body position, or there is marked tilting or forward head posture.
-
Hip dysplasia has been diagnosed.
-
Your baby has a protruding tummy or diastasis.
-
You are dealing with breastfeeding difficulties, frequent vomiting, restless sleep or reflux.
-
You notice delays in developmental milestones (rolling, tummy time/head lifting, crawling, sitting).
Older children – we focus on supporting proper posture, better function of the musculoskeletal system and prevention of overload. Physiotherapy is especially suitable when:
-
There is a need for prevention – correct posture and healthy physical development.
-
The child suffers from headaches, abdominal pain, neck pain, chest pain or back pain.
-
There are flat feet or other deviations involving the lower limbs.
-
The child is recovering after surgery or a more serious illness and physiotherapy helps them return to normal daily activities.
-
It is necessary to compensate for one-sided load from sports (floorball, ice hockey, tennis, squash) or, on the contrary, to support correct posture in less active children.
Our philosophy of patient care
Our commitment is to provide the highest quality medical care delivered by top specialists, with an emphasis on a considerate, friendly and empathetic approach in every situation. Children are particularly specific patients, as they often cannot clearly express what is bothering them. That is why we care for them with maximum sensitivity, and we adapt the entire therapy and treatment to the child’s (psychological, physical and current) abilities. We design therapy so that it is individual for each baby or child, use proven therapeutic methods, understand your worries and uncertainties, and communicate as openly as possible. We provide both guidance and emotional support. A paediatric physiotherapist is not only someone who understands the physiology of the body, but also the nervous system and children’s emotions (as well as the emotions of parents). We care for our clients with respect, dignity and the assurance that they can turn to us whenever they need to see a doctor.
Our clinic offers a family-like atmosphere and maximum comfort. We carefully select our doctors, who prioritise a personal, patient‑centred approach and transparent communication. Our doctors will have enough time for you and will be able to explain your situation and the proposed solutions clearly and understandably.
