Allergology & Immunology
An allergist is a specialist focusing on allergic and immunological disorders such as asthma, hay fever, and other allergic conditions.
If you suffer from an allergy or their common symptoms such as sneezing, nasal congestion, or wheezing, you should consider making an appointment with an allergist. Allergies manifest as an exaggerated response by the immune system to allergens, which can include pollen, various foods, animals, etc.
A visit to the allergist includes an allergy test to determine whether the patient is allergic and what allergens are involved, followed (if necessary) by prescription of medication and immunotherapy. The allergist can also provide patients with preventive education on how to avoid factors that trigger their allergies.
Disorders and diseases experienced by allergic persons include bronchial asthma, chronic colds, skin rashes, chronic sneezing, infections, etc.
The allergist often cooperates with other specialists such as dermatologists, ENT (ear, nose, and throat) doctors, internists, or gynecologists.
