Health: More Than Just Physical
The World Health Organization states that a mentally healthy person is an individual that realizes their potential, is able to cope with the normal stressors of life, works productively, and makes contributions to their community. A person’s mental health impacts the way a person is able to handle stress, relate to others, and make decisions.
When a person struggles with mental health issues, it makes their everyday life difficult. A person with mental health issues is unable to healthily manage stress and can lead to other physical health issues down the road. Some warning signs for decreased mental health are feeling isolated, having little to no energy, feeling hopeless, and being unable to preform daily tasks. In order to treat these symptoms and become mentally healthy, it is important to seek the help of a licensed mental health professional.
At Unicare, we can provide clients with access to mental health services. Our focus on psychosomatic medicine ensures that patient’s mental and physical health is a priority. Through this service, the physician views a person’s mental health, physical health, and their environment to make a diagnosis and provide the necessary treatment. Should a patient’s diagnosis require medication, Unicare can provide psychiatry appointments. We also offer individual and family therapy as well as appointments with a psychologist, should a patient need that care.
Regardless of the type of healthcare required, it is important to reach out for help if you feel like your symptoms are too much to handle. There is no shame in seeing a mental health professional and, the sooner you get help, the sooner you can begin treating your mental health issues. Mental health is frequently forgotten about and here at Unicare we strive to make mental health a priority.
